August 18, 2012 {Amy & Steve} Their Awesome Greek Wedding!

Amy & Steve didn't let a little rain get in the way of having the absolute best wedding day ever. First things first, take a look at the amazing detail on Amy's gorgeous dress.

The ceremony was a traditional Greek wedding, held at St. Catherine's in Braintree.

Every groom needs a best man by his side, and Steve had his...

The ceremony was steeped in Greek tradition.

The crowns play a very important part of the ceremony. The crowns are said to be a visual reminder of what awaits us in Heaven, but they also are said to symbolize that the couple has just become King and Queen of their newly created family.

Another beautiful shot of the ceremony...

Every ceremony ends with "You may kiss the bride"...

Time for one last shot outside the church, before we head out to The Tirrell Room for Amy & Steve's reception.

We started with some indoor "formals", thanks to Mother Nature and her pesky rain drops.

Mother Nature was kind at some times during the day, and allowed us to get some outdoor photos.

Amy & Steve's first dance together as man and wife may have left only a few dry eyes in the house.

In case you were wondering if there was cake, the answer is: of course there was cake, silly!! Thank you, Montillio's Baking Company!

Mother Nature gave us a little reprieve later in the night, and we will close with one of those outdoor, end of the night shots...

Our congratulations to Amy & Steve, as well as our thanks for allowing us to be their wedding day photographer.

{July 14, 2012} Kimberly + Steven @ The Monponsett Inn = wedded bliss!

The day was full of "perfect". The gazebo, the details, the weather... the bride and the groom. Kim and Steve choose a beautiful spot in Halifax for their wedding day. The Monponsett Inn, with its gazebo and water views lends itself to being a premier ceremony and reception location on the South Shore. Check out some of the details that made their wedding unique, and made their guests "ooohhhh" and "aaahhhh"...

And did I mention the gazebo? The Monponsett Inn is well-known for their gazebo view. It's no wonder so many people choose to get married here.

You've seen the details, you've seen the gazebo. But what you're really here to see is the bride and groom. Seeing the groom watch his bride walk down the aisle is a shot that cannot be recreated. It's a once in a lifetime look that speaks a thousand words.

Steve and Kim were married among family and friends outdoors. The sheer happiness of the day is evident at every moment throughout the day and night.

Dinner and dancing followed their wedding ceremony well into the night. A packed dance floor set the scene for a night of festive celebration.

DeAnna & CJ {June 30, 2012} The "Four Weddings" wedding at Easton Country Club

The preparations were set and excitement was afoot at The Easton Country Club. After years in the making, and many months of planning, DeAnna and CJ's wedding day had arrived. The dream team was assembled, with Leigh Howlett as their in-house wedding planner extraordinaire providing special touches around every corner and food fit for a king and queen prepared by Russell Morin Fine Catering.

Yours truly was filming the day from start to finish, alongside the very talented Starlight Photography to capture every important moment.

Starlight Photography Collage

Rob Peters from Rob Peters Entertainment was on hand to DJ, MC and provide all the entertainment for the evening. Add to the mix beautiful flowers from Green Akers Florist, and a cake that looks are great as it tastes by Artisan Bake Shop, and the day is almost complete...

There is one more detail... TLC's Four Weddings would be filming DeAnna and CJ's wedding for their 2012 Summer/Autumn season. Sure, there were extra camera people and sound people, and there were 3 extra guests (the other 3 brides from the show) in attendance. But they all blended in so well, I don't know that anyone even noticed them. What people did notice was the fabulous candy buffet set up by Leigh, the teal up lighting that matched the whole teal theme, a super fun photobooth, and the basket of flip-flops that the newlyweds provided to their guests so no one's dogs would be barking at the end of the night.

But don't take our word for it. Watch and see for yourself! We have assembled a highlight video that showcases dancing, smiling and good times had by all. You'll hear DeAnna and CJ's vows and DeAnna's aunt singing the vocals, you'll see the happiness that flows so freely, and you'll feel the love that brought not only DeAnna and CJ together, but also brought together two families who seem to be one. Let us know what you think...

Top 10 Reasons to Have the Photo Studio Come to YOU!

We here at Photo & Video by Joe Goldsberry are quite proud that we are successful enough to have a storefront/studio in downtown Whitman. We can photograph you and your family right in our studio, or we can meet you at a local park or other location for an on location shoot. But there are some portrait sessions that simply must to be brought right to your house. A newborn baby session is the perfect example, and little Lainey is here to tell you her top 10 reasons she is glad that Photo & Video by Joe Goldsberry came to her house recently for her portrait session. #10: You can just stretch out and make yourself at home, well, because you ARE at home.

#9: You can keep daddy close by for a reassuring snuggle.

#8: If the baby kicks and your wedding rings go flying, at least you know they're SOMEWHERE in your own house.

#7: If you happen to have a pup, he might make a cameo appearance into the shot at any time, and that's ok!

#6: You're more likely to get an awesome candid shot like this:

#5: If it all just gets to be too much, you can let it out and cry. No one will "shhhhhhhh" you.

#4: You never know, you're photographer might sneak in a personal photo of something special from your house.

#3: Bare feet aren't just ok, they're encouraged!

#2: You can change your outfit as many times as you like, including into clothes that represent MiteTees personalized shirts and Angel Cake Tutus.

And the #1 reason to have the photography studio come to you... cause baby, when it's time to nap, it's time to nap. And nobody tells you "no"!

Debbie & Joe {May 26, 2012} From Plymouth to Norton...

When we first met with Debbie and Joe, it was to discuss the videography for their wedding. They were dream clients who knew exactly what they wanted. They weren't sure about who they would hire for photography, and the DJ was still up in the air at this point, but they had their videographer.  :) We gave them a DJ referral to Big Daddy Ray at Rob Peters Entertainment, and that meeting went so well that they had their DJ by the end of that meeting. They were still undecided on a photographer, and had told Big Daddy Ray that they probably only wanted formal photos done. Big Daddy Ray gave them an idea... ask us to do the formal photos in addition to the wedding video. That idea was just crazy enough to work! And what we now present to you is the first wedding with photography and videography both done by Photo & Video by Joe Goldsberry.

We did more than just formals in the end, simply because we could. The ceremony was held at the Christ Church in Plymouth. This is a beautiful church rich in history. Reverend Fredrickson and the church wedding coordinator, Donna, could not have possibly been any more accommodating. The church is beautiful, inside and out, as you can see the inside...

A wonderful, heartfelt and tear evoking ceremony that ended with "you may kiss your bride" with family and friends to bear witness went just as perfectly as planned.

Did I mention the outside of the church is as beautiful as the inside?

After the ceremony, it was off to the reception at The Chateau in Norton. Nicole and all the staff were ready, willing and able to help the newlyweds celebrate in style.

Coming down the stairs from the bridal loft, the light coming in from the window helped to capture a stunning image of the bride.

Of course there was cake! It was made by White's Fine Cakes and Pastries, and yes, it was as delicious as it was beautiful.

Before Big Daddy Ray provided plenty of traditional Irish and traditional Greek music to get all the wedding guests on the floor, the bride and groom had their first dance together. The bride's dad started the ongoing theme for the night by showering them with money as they danced.

We were able to steal the couple away from the crowd for a few minutes to do some outdoor sunset photos.

The best way for you, the reader, to get a true glimpse of the day to watch Debbie & Joe's trailer video. Our hope is that they have internet access on their honeymoon, so they can watch this before they get home. Our heartfelt congratulations to a truly wonderful couple!

Triangle's Employability 31st Annual Employee Recognition Celebration

We were honored, enlightened and educated when we photographed the 31st annual employee recognition celebration for Triangle's Employability at the Putnum Club in Gillette Stadium last week. Before we share some photos with the event, take a moment to click on the links above, and read what Employability is all about. Located in Braintree, Mass., Employability empowers people with disabilities to enjoy rich, fulfilling lives. They are committed to helping the world recognize that we are all people with ability. Check them out at PeopleWithAbility.org.

The 31st annual employee recognition award went to Lenny Kaplan. Lenny has been working with Employability for over 9 years. One of the many things that was said about Lenny that night: "Lenny's committment to his job and compassion for his fellow employees is an inspiration to us all."

Employability is about 90% self sustaining by way of the products the manufacture and sell. They do not rely on a single dollar of government support. The other 10% is met by donations and events. There was a fabulous silent auction held at this event. Check out some of the action.

There were 3 live auction items bid on as well, including an autographed Tom Brady jersey. Bidding was fast and furious for all 3 items. Everything bid on was generously 100% donated.

2012 Miss Wheelchair Massachusetts was a guest, and even sang a couple of songs during the evening.

It was a night about accomplishment, infinite possibilities and self confidence. 2009 award recipient Trevor MacLeod spoke about the company he loves, and CEO Michael Rodrigues spoke to the crowd about all the wonderful employees at Triangle.

Employees and guests were treated to a tour of Gillette Stadium, going down through the tunnels, in the locker room, and out onto the field.

One of the amazing things about our job is that we never know where it will take us, and what we will learn. This night we learned about a local company that affords people of all abilities the chance to shine.

First came love, then came marriage...

... and here comes Casey and Chuck with a baby carriage. Well, the baby carriage will start getting some serious use in about 2 months. Their daughter is due to make her debut early July.

I think it's safe to say that Photo & Video by Joe Goldsberry is the official photographer for the Dobbins family. We first met them waaaaaaaaaaay back in early 2009. Having been chosen to photograph their wedding, it was off to Rexhame Beach for some engagement shots, one of which also became their seating chart.

Casey and Chuck were married at The Church of the Holy Ghost in Whitman, and then celebrated their new life together with family and friends at the Halifax Country Club.

Over the years, we've always stayed in touch with Casey & Chuck. We've shot other weddings they have attended. Casey has been math tutor to our daughter. And Chuck's dad happens to sling the best pastrami anywhere at Chucky D's Hot Dogs and More. So it's only natural that they would ask us to do their maternity photo shoot. We went down the Cape to Sandwich, where Casey grew up. Back to basics with a beach shoot for some truly amazing shots of two truly happy people.

We took some of their ideas, and some of our ideas, and ended up with a great combination of photos that have generated more "likes" and comments than any other album of photos we have put on FaceBook.

We can't wait to photography Baby Dobbins, as she has come to be known. We're almost as excited as mommy and daddy are for her to make her way into the world. It's such a cool feeling when a couple who came into your life as clients become friends.

Stay tuned, because I have a feeling Baby Dobbins will be an entire blog post when she gets here...

Just an update to add some "in studio" photos that came about after the on location shoot.

These "Belly Banners" are handcrafted by a Maine artist named Maria Lothrop out of her studio called GossamerScapes. They're not only great for maternity photo sessions, but what a unique keepsake for years to come. Find them on FaceBook.

This baby will be here before mom and dad know it!

How important is a professional wedding video?

Survey says: less than 30% of couples hire a professional wedding videographer. The reasons are endless as to why people are against having a professional wedding video. Before the wedding:We can't afford it. (That's usually an automatic assumption in most cases.) We'll just have a friend tape the important parts. (Isn't the whole day important?) We'll never watch it. (Are you sure? Wouldn't your children would love to watch it someday? Your grandchildren...) Ugh! Those bright lights!! (Not when you hire Photo & Video by Joe Goldsberry.) Videographers? They are so obtrusive! (see above...)

And after the wedding: I wish I could remember your brother's speech! It brought everyone to tears! My dad was CRYING during our dance? I didn't notice! I can't believe gramma got out of her wheelchair and danced! I wish I could see that again! I missed WHAT during the cocktail hour? No way! I wish I could have seen THAT! Wow, who knows when everyone will be together like that again!

The one and only thing Marge Simpson went back into a burning house for? Yup. Her wedding video.

Ask someone who had a professional videographer film their wedding why they had it done, and what it means to them now. Take 2 minutes to watch this video we put together that brings it all together, and truly showcases why a professional wedding video will become such an important part of your family history. We made this video a few years ago, yet the message is still as strong as ever. Share this post with your engaged friends, and let them know why those who are on the fence about having their wedding filmed should give us a call to find out more.

The Hard Rock Cafe Boston + a Bon Jovi tribute band + raising $$ for a very important cause = this blog post

We have a friend who fronts a local Bon Jovi tribute band. Joe and I have been meaning to catch their show for quite some time now. The last time we almost made it, I had tickets the same night for Weird Al at the Zeiterion Theater. Having finally caught Living on a Bad Name's show last Friday night, I now believe Weird Al would have been ok with me missing his show. Part of the reason we made this particular show was that it was a fundraiser for juvenile diabetes. Juvenile diabetes (also known as Type 1 Diabetes) is a real nasty malady. While it can strike at any age, the onset is more common to occur in childhood. When Type 1 Diabetes strikes, your pancreas no longer produces insulin. Ever. You are now dependant on daily insulin injections, monitoring your blood sugar 4-6 times per day, and regulating your carbohydrate intake and any energy you exert.

Day Tripper Entertainment hosted the show at the Hard Rock Cafe in Boston with a showcase of entertainers that included Dennis Stephen of The Lennon Show, Mike Slater as Elvis, Sharon DiFronzo's Pat Benatar tribute, and Living on a Bad Name. Every act was on their game, ready, willing able to give their all to help raise some money for JDRF.

We were thrilled to join in the fun and capture Living on a Bad Name in action.

I think those who were seeing Living on a Bad Name for the first time were blown away by their amazingly accurate and flattering tribute to Bon Jovi. Once you get past Ken Pittman being about a half-foot taller than Jon Bon Jovi, and you ignore that Ken is left-handed, you are in total Bon Jovi dreamland. I bet Ken even takes Advil for his aches and pains.

Check out our montage of the action, and mark your calendars for Living on a Bad Name's next show.

The band is made up of Ken Pittman on lead vocals, his son, Keith Pittman on drums, Ethan Brosh on guitar, John Miker on bass and Scott Poole on the all important (for a true Bon Jovi sound) keyboards. Check them out on FaceBook, become a fan, and catch their show.

O Canada! Waterfalls, tall buildings, the Red Sox... and a streaker??

We took a quick trip to Canada last week, mainly to see the Red Sox play in Toronto. It's a stadium we have always wanted to see in person. But to get to Toronto, we had to go through Niagara Falls (slowly as I turn...) and see some sights along the way. First up, the beautiful and awe-inspiring falls. One side American, one side Canadian. Both sides amazing.

It's known that the American side is more "state park" like, and the Canadian side caters to tourists. Yes, we can confirm this with photographic proof...

Before we took in the Red Sox game, there was a tall building to leap in a single bound. Well, at 147 stories, we decided to take the elevator instead. The CN Tower certainly is a sight to behold.

And how about those Red Sox? Rogers Stadium is a great ball park. We went to the Tuesday game... and our team lost. We had a couple of wonderful locals sitting next to us. They lived up to the Canadian stereotype of extreme politeness. They apologized to us for booing the Red Sox. The said they were booing the Red Sox with the utmost respect.

Then, all of a sudden, onto the field sprints what they never show on TV. The streaker! He actually kept his sneakers and black speedo on, so he wasn't a "true" streaker. He had YOLO painted on his chest, although I am pretty sure it doesn't count as YOLO if you need to get bailed out. Ok, enough idle chit chat- you want photos, right?

It was a whirlwind 3 day trip, chock full of fun. Let us know your favorite major league park, as we like to visit a new park each year.

Back to Maine (to try out the new camera)

Having just bought a new camera (Nikon D700), we had to give it a work out before our first wedding of the season. We'll be at The Quincy Marriott and The Neighborhood Club in Quincy this coming weekend photographing Ericka and Mark's wedding, and you can be sure there will be a blog post dedicated to their wedding. In the meantime, we returned to some of our favorite spots, and we found some new ones, as well. You've certainly heard us rave about The Union Bluff in York, Maine (which is where we stayed on this jaunt). Check out this 30 second exposure, taken from our balcony at The Meeting House section of Union Bluff. It overlooks the motel section and the main building.

You can imagine and you can assume (and you'd be correct)... we visited some lighthouses on this short trip. This one (these two) are new to us. It's called Twin Lights of Thatcher Island. Here is a shot of one of the twins standing on its own:

And of course, you need to see the twins side by side:

No drive to Maine would not be complete without a new shot of Portland Head Light in Cape Elizabeth...

What's that, you say? You'd love to see Nubble Light at dawn? Joe heard you. He got up real early. He drove over to Nubble Light at 6:00am. And here is the shot he got... just for you.

We all know with dawn comes the sunrise...

Of all the pictures we took the past few days, we'll end with yet another "new to us" lighthouse. It's called Boon Island Lighthouse, off of York, Maine. It's about 6 miles out in the ocean, but catching the image at just the right moment in time makes it clear to anyone who views it that they are looking at a lighthouse.

Please take a moment, and let us know which image you like best, and why. We take pride in all our photos, but we love the feedback from our fans!

Small business can be BIG!

Being a small business can be tough these days. We've all seen local shops in business one day, and then see the dreaded "for rent" sign in their window the next. It's tough out there for the little guy! (or girl...) One of the things Photo & Video by Joe Goldsberry prides itself on is the work we do for other small businesses. We've done really cool videos for companies that sell unique products, like a nail polish remover that keeps the acetone off of your skin, and a company that markets underwater dog physical therapy (aquatherapy for pups!).

We've also done some great still photography for companies like Mitetees. Mitetees is a small local business that makes and sells custom onsies and shirts for babies, children and even the pregnant mom.

We do some of the modeling photography for Mitetees, but some of the photos are just babies who happen to be lucky enough to have received a Mitetees shirt as a gift!

It's not all t-shirts and babies. We've done photo shoots for among other things, a local golf supply company, and a local marinade/sauce company (Georja's Gourmet Sauces). Not every small business is local, either. The company that makes the personalized lip balms we photographed, Kustom Kissers, is located in Arizona.

Professional photos and videos really can be the difference between making or breaking your small business. Give Photo & Video by Joe Goldsberry a call today and find out how we can help your business. It's probably more affordable than you think, and when it helps your business thrive, it becomes priceless.

Please, have a seat!

One of the later aspects of wedding planning is a seating plan for the guests at the reception. People can sometimes get quite creative when it comes to showing their guest where to sit. We've all seen the pretty little place cards, directing people to their table number, such as these little bow tied cards.

At Photo & Video by Joe Goldsberry, we've taken the "where to sit" to a whole new level by offering our custom seating charts. They are custom-made for each client, and limited only by your imagination. We don't use templates, and that makes them like snowflakes. (No two are alike!)

The photo we use can be one we took if we did your engagement session, or it can be a photo that you provide. (Photos from other professional photographers must have a print release from the photographer to be used). We've done both horizontal and vertical, and our size choices are 16X20, 20X30 and 24X36. You can have your seating chart made as a print that you can frame, or we can have it mounted onto a foam core backing for you.

Check out the guest list from our "prototype" seating chart. We only attended this wedding in our head.

We have a few of these charts at our studio in downtown Whitman, so if you are in the area and want to see what they look like in person, stop by. Check out a few examples and pricing of our custom seating charts, and let us know what you think of them.

Hop on over!!

Those who read this blog and live nearby are quite aware that this winter has pretty much been the winter that wasn't. I don't hear too many complaints about that! As I write this post, spring is officially 15 days away! The spring equinox is right around the corner!

What does this mean for Photo & Video by Joe Goldsberry? It means the wedding season will be in full swing before we know it. It also means lots of outdoor portrait sessions, and lots of happy clients!

On those happy notes, we leave you with a photo we took during a family portrait session this past weekend. This one captures the spirit of spring, and will put a smile on the face of all who see it.

Thanks for the memories, Capt'n

Sounds like it's official - our favorite Red Sox catcher, #33 Jason Varitek, will announce his retirement on Thursday. It's bittersweet, because we'll miss him at the games we make it to this season. However, if Varitek knows it's time to retire, we have to totally respect that.

We just wanted to share a few shots of Varitek we have taken over the years. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

We've been to Camden Yards a few times (Fenway South), and we've taken many photos there. We highly suggest the ballpark tour, if you ever get down there.

Another game at Camden Yards, Cash caught most of this game but Varitek came in near the end.

Tropicana Field in St.Pete is said to have the closest seats to home plate of any MLB field (50 feet). Yeah, we were about that close for this photo.

Thanks for all the great memories, Capt'n. Enjoy a well deserved retirement.

Babies, and children and families... Oh my!!!

When you think of getting your family photos done, whether it's just the new baby all by herself, or the whole family, where are going? For so many people, the first thing that comes to mind is the department store photographer. Let's look into this and start a discussion. The history of department store "photographers" was simply to get families into the store to spend some money, and not so much on the photos, but in the store itself. (Surely you have noticed the department store photographer is usually located at the back of the store? That's not just a coincidence.)

Often it's assumed that the department store photographer is the "cheap" way out, with the $9.95 come on price. When is the last time you or someone you know left with photos for $9.95? One of our recent clients who made the switch from department store to professional photographer told us they ended up spending over $400, and they were less than thrilled with the photos. All too common, they were hit with the hard sell pitch of "Ohhhhh, how could you say "no" to THIS one? Or THIS one?" And $400 later, they left with an envelope of photos that they didn't really care for, but were made to feel guilty for not caring for them. Sound familiar?

This would be a good time to show how Photo and Video by Joe Goldsberry does it... This photo was taken at their home with a simple portable white background.

Another common complaint we have been hearing from moms and dads of very young children is the frustration the child feels being cooped up in the back of the department store, expected to smile on command. That frustration shows through in the photos. Here, little Kyla has run of the Whitman Town Park, which brings out her natural smile in a relaxed way.

I think every family has some of those "department store photographer" photos, and it may do you good to pull them out and compare the lighting, the poses, the background, the color and the composition to some of our photos.

Consider a professional photo shoot with Photo and Video by Joe Goldsberry at our studio in downtown Whitman, at a nearby park or even at your home. You'll be pleasantly surprised with our pricing, and you'll be thrilled with the quality and personal service you get from a professional photographer like Photo and Video by Joe Goldsberry.

If you don't believe us, just ask Maddie...

It all starts with the engagement photos...

Once you start searching for your wedding photographer, a good place to begin is with engagement photos. An engagement session need not be a formal, frilly, over dressed session. Today's engagement photo sessions are known to be more laid back, capturing the "real" couple. Gone are the days of the couple simply smiling into the camera, with nothing but their faces taking up the entire frame. Here to stay are photos that jump right off the page with awe-inspiring color and dimension.

Bringing your photographer to a favorite place and just "being yourself" is a great way to start to get to know your wedding photographer, and for the photographer to really get to know your personalities. Sarah and Donn brought us to the Arnold Arboretum for their photos.

Sometimes black and white can tell the story just as well as color, as seen in these photos, first showcasing Danielle and Mike at the Quincy Quarries, and the Tony and Donna at White Horse Beach.

Even in a silhouette, their smiles shine through...

A location as seemingly simple at Whitman Town Park can bring a whole new perspective to your photos.

Shawna and Sterling had the Public Gardens in mind for their engagement photos...

Give Photo and Video by Joe Goldsberry a call to set up a meeting at our studio to discuss your wedding photography. We'd love to hear about your ideas for engagement photos. Some posed, some candid, and somewhere in between make for a great mix of shots to choose from. We'll end with Mark and Meredith, this photo taken in Boston was Meredith's favorite...

Plymouth County GOP 3rd Annual Recognition Breakfast

We were asked to photograph the Plymouth County GOP 3rd Annual Recognition Breakfast, held at the Monponsset Inn, and consider it an honor to have been able to capture some very important local political figures. We got some great shots of Senator Scott Brown, Plymouth Country Sheriff Joe McDonald, State Rep Geoff Diehl, and many of the honorees in attendance. What made the event even more full of life and fun were all the kids that came along with their parents. You might not think that this could be such a family event, but you'd be wrong!

Plymouth County Sheriff Joe McDonald said a few words, and one of his daughters came up to the podium with him.

Senator Scott Brown poses with Emily Diehl and her dad, State Rep. Geoff Diehl.

The special honor of "lifetime achievement award" went to former State Rep. Ned Kirby.

Thanks to the Plymouth County GOP for asking Photo and Video by Joe Goldsberry to capture their very special event.

Have Camera, Will Travel...

When you're a professional photographer, your camera is your paintbrush, and the world is your canvas. There is a place in New England, a hidden gem, that we want to share with you. It's a town called York, and it's in southern Maine. About 90 minutes from Boston, and you have easy access to New Hampshire and Vermont, as well. We try to get to York a few times a year, and when we do, we always stay at The Union Bluff. We don't have to bring a camera with us everywhere we go, but what fun would that be? Having just returned after a couple of days in York (which included watching a certain ill-fated football game at The Union Bluff Pub), we wanted to share some of the fun and photos.

If you are wondering why we'd return to the same spot, time after time, take a visit to York and you'll find your answer pretty quick. Filled with the nicest, friendliest and most "down home" people you'll ever meet, one visit and you'll be hooked, too.

York is also home to what is said to be "the most photographed lighthouse in the world". Cape Neddick Lighthouse, more commonly known as "Nubble Light", is a beauty to behold. Located down the road from The Union Bluff at Sohier Park, Nubble Light has ample free parking and many views to easily photograph it from many angles.

It's not always rest and relaxation at York Beach. We have been commissioned more than once for family portraits in the area. One of our favorites, little Waverly, was taken about 2 years ago. We hear she has a new baby brother, and is ready for some new family portraits.

If you're looking for a quiet getaway, or if you're not a "jump in the ocean" beach person, visit York off-season. If you like swimming in the ocean, an old-fashioned arcade and bowling alley, and some hustle and bustle", visit in the summer. You can walk to York Zoo from The Union Bluff via an easy stroll through the quaint downtown area. Back at the hotel, you can see, hear and smell the ocean from your balcony.

If you take the trip to York, or if you have already been, let us know what you think. We'd love to compare notes!

The life of a VHS tape (or "The end of your memories")

There is a big trend on the horizon, and we have already seen it starting. It's about converting your VHS tapes onto a DVD format. VHS tapes simply don't last forever. Most experts estimate they will remain playable for somewhere between 15-25 years, depending on how they are stored. Imagine your wedding, your parent's wedding, your kids from baby to grade school and then graduating high school. Now imagine the only audio and video record you have of those memories, gone forever. It happens all too often, and yet it's so easily avoided. All you need to do is gather all your VHS tapes and bring them in to Photo and Video by Joe Goldsberry for conversion to DVD. We do all our work in-house, so you can feel confident knowing your tapes will never have to take the chance of getting lost in the mail. Most of the larger companies, like CVS and Walgreens, do send them out to yet a larger company. Imagine, they charge twice as much, take twice as long, and on top of that, your tapes could potentially be lost.

We are proud to say we have the lowest prices around. The prices go even lower as your quantity of tapes goes up.

We are delivering a wedding video VHS to DVD conversion today that was shot 15 years ago (shot by Joe Goldsberry!) The bride's mom and dad have both since passed away, and today she will get to see them come alive once again, reliving her dad walking her down the aisle and seeing her mom dance the night away.

Photo and Video by Joe Goldsberry (formerly known as Videography by Media Concepts) also has a very special offer that can't be beat. If you (or anyone you know) had their wedding filmed by Joe Goldsberry and delivered on VHS, bring it in to our studio at 29 Church St., Whitman, and we will made a DVD copy for you at no charge. There are literally hundreds of weddings, dating back to 1981, filmed by Joe Goldsberry and sitting on shelves in VHS format, just waiting to come to life again on DVD.

We are happy to take orders as small as one VHS tape, to as many as you have. We did an order this past December that included just over 100 VHS tapes. Give us a call at 774-240-1152 if you have any questions about VHS to DVD transfers, and then gather up your tapes.
